An updated Clean Vehicles Directive will enter into force in August 2021, what it means now and how to prepare for it?
The new Clean Vehicles Directive obliges public sector to choose a predetermined number of clean vehicles for their own services and fleets. This directive will enter into force as early as August 2021 and will be implemented in stages, so that from 2021 to 2025 new obligations will enter into force, which will be tightened from 2026 to 2030.
In practice, the Directive obliges procurer to select an agreed amount of clean vehicles in their fleet in which each of vehicles will be considered by vehicle category. For example in passenger cars a clean vehicle according to the directive, will initially mean less than 50 g / km of CO2 emissions and from 2026 zero-emission vehicles.

Clean Vehicle Wizard tool is especially intended for public procurement of transport fleets and services. The tool can be used to score and evaluate different transport fleets from the perspective of vehicles. It takes into account the environmental impact of those specific vehicles in the fleet. In addition, the tool can be used to control and monitor the vehicle fleets and service providers in use. This brings transparency to procurement.

” In the 2020s, the Clean Vehicles Directive will fundamentally change municipal procurement of cars and transport services. Certain information on the suitability and cost of clean vehicles will only become available over the years. However, change will be facilitated if there are tools and information available for procuring, using and monitoring vehicles and transportation services.”

The CVW tool is data-driven and utilizes national vehicle registration data as well as data on new vehicles being imported. Central to the usability of the tool is that the tool itself can retrieve and utilize the data entered into the system. In addition, the user has the ability to customize the views and functions of the tool according to their needs.
