The eFTI4ALL Project convened in Brussels to kick off activities aimed at realizing the implementation of the eFTI Regulation (EU) 2020/1056, enabling seamless digital freight transport information exchange across EU. The event brought together Member States, representatives from DG MOVE, CINEA, and private sector partners, and featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between eFTI4ALL and its sister project, eFTI4EU.
On November 25–26, the eFTI4ALL Consortium convened in Brussels for the official Kick-Off Meeting of the project. This event brought together partners from across Europe, spanning both the private and public sectors, to align on the project’s vision and organize work for the coming months. Building on the results and achievements of its sister project,eFTI4EU, the eFTI4ALL Consortium aims to advance digital freight transport information exchange in Europe.
The presence at the Kick-Off of representatives from DG MOVE and
CINEA underscored the strategic importance of this initiative, funded by Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for more than €15 million (total budget more than €30 million), and involving five EU member states (Sweden, Denmark, Malta, Luxembourg, and Greece).
A key highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Jan Bergstrand (Trafikverket), eFTI4ALL Project Coordinator, and Eva Killar (Ministry of Climate of Estonia), eFTI4EU Project Coordinator. This agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the two projects (covering about half of Member States), enabling them to:
- Leverage each other’s insights to enhance project outcomes.
- Minimize duplication of efforts and foster synergy in developing eFTI systems.
- Coordinate communications and engagement with the European Commission to ensure consistent and unified updates on progress, challenges, and solutions related to eFTI implementation.
- Ensuring transparency, cooperation, and mutual benefit while respecting the autonomy of each project and the requirements of their respective Grant Agreements.
This joint approach ensures alignment in presenting the advancements of eFTI across Europe, paving the way for a more integrated and efficient logistics ecosystem.
“For Vediafi the eFTI4ALL project continues the work done in FEDeRATED platforms project. During the eFTI4ALL project Vedia aims to implement our eFTI platform to several test and pilots to further develop it based on EU regulation requirements and to boost eFTI implementation in EU. More information about Vedia’s eFTI platform can be found from Vedia’s webpages and from My eFTI pages.” – Miika Nordström
A special thanks to eFTI4ALL partner Collibra for hosting this event. Together, eFTI4ALL and eFTI4EU are taking significant steps toward revolutionizing digital freight transport information in Europe.

About eFTI4ALL
The efficiency of freight transport and logistics is vital for the growth and competitiveness of the EU economy, the functioning of the internal market and the social and economic cohesion of all its regions. Multiple IT solutions are currently being used throughout Europe for the exchange of freight transport information. The incompatibility of these solutions often leads drivers to prefer paper documents, a costly and time-consuming process. The Regulation (EU)2020/1056 of 15 July 2020 on electronic freight transport information (the ‘eFTI Regulation’) aims to increase the efficiency of freight transport and logistics by replacing paper-based documentation with electronic data in all transport modes. It establishes a legal framework for road, rail, maritime and air transport operators to share information with enforcement authorities on the transportation of goods within the European Union in an electronic format. The eFTI4ALL project builds on the eFTI4EU project further contributing to the implementation of the eFTI Regulation by involving additional Member States and including economic operators, who together will develop and test the eFTI data exchange environment (both eFTI Gates and eFTI Platforms), explore new use cases (such as transport of dangerous goods and multimodal transport) and provides testing possibilities to investigate the interoperability between the eFTI Gates and eFTI Platforms. This will contribute to realising a fully integrated, streamlined electronic freight transport across EU. The eFTI4ALL consortium will assist five additional EU Member States (Sweden, Denmark, Malta, Luxembourg, and Greece) with the implementation of the eFTI Regulation, while also involving Poland to promote its adoption there. Project 101175974 — 23-EU-TG-eFTI4ALL is financed under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program of the European Commission.
