The year 2024 is coming to an end, and it is time to summarize it and highlight a few key moments.
The year 2024 was full of eFTI developments, which is very positive. The eFTI4EU project proceeded well with the eFTI Gate reference implementation, which is now under review and will be published in January. The project also got a special mention from the Public Sector Tech Watch – Best Cases Award 2024. In November, our technical teams also succeeded in conducting the first eFTI Gate-to-Gate testing during the first project testfest. During the summer of 2024, a new CEF eFTI project was launched when the eFTI4ALL was funded with almost maximum evaluation points. While eFTI4EU focuses on authority systems and reference implementation, the eFTI4ALL project engages new Member States and expands eFTI development to the economic operator side. Vedia is honored to be part of this project and to continue our eFTI Platform development. During the summer, Vedia also successfully piloted eCMR-eFTI solutions in collaboration with Flowertrucks and iToDEV, funded by Sitra. At the end of the year, this pilot was extended to cover the eFTI Gate, and hence piloting in collaboration with Fintraffic was started.
In June, the Digital End of Life Vehicle platform (DELV) was launched, and now all officially recycled vehicles in Finland are listed on the DELV platform. Since June, the recycling volumes have been positive, and DELV has been further developed. There have also been initial international collaboration discussions with the Finnish Vehicle Recycling Company, and it seems that the year 2025 will be very interesting from the DELV point of view.
Although eFTI and DELV have been our main focus, there are several other highlights as well:
- The IBA 3 project, in collaboration with VTT, NDPTL, and Traficom, combined our areas of excellence: sustainability and digital logistics. It was a pleasure to work with this project team and to learn more. This topic is sure to grow in importance in the coming years.
- MyeFTI collaboration: in collaboration with GoSwift and iToDEV, we launched the MyeFTI brand, which combines eFTI, eCMR, and queue management systems.
- 5G ROUTES maritime trials were successfully executed in the Turku archipelago in close collaboration with VTT and other project partners.
The DigiLog 3 event was full of Vedia collaboration partners and projects, where digitalization (with a strong focus on eFTI), resilience, and sustainability of logistics provided the framework for the seminar. From Vedia’s point of view, presentations introduced insights and learnings from ReMuNet and FEDeRATED, and of course, eFTI projects.
